Full-Width Bifold Door Installation
The original rear wall contained a conventional sliding-door opening that limited access, natural light and the connection to the entertaining area outside. The existing opening was substantially widened, requiring careful demolition, temporary support and new structural work before the doors could be installed. The result is a brighter, more open living area with a flexible transition between indoors and outdoors.

Project Brief
The owners wanted to open the rear of the home and create a more seamless transition between the internal living area and the covered patio. The existing sliding doors only opened across part of the wall, which restricted movement and made the outdoor area feel separate from the main living space. The brief was to replace them with a wider opening that would bring in more natural light, improve access and allow the two areas to function as one larger entertaining space. Because the new doors extended well beyond the original opening, the project also required the structural alterations to be completed carefully without affecting the surrounding ceiling, flooring or existing patio.
Outcome
The new bifold doors completely changed how the rear living area connects with the outdoors. When closed, the large glass panels bring more light into the room and provide a clearer view of the backyard. When opened, the panels fold neatly to the side, creating a wide, uninterrupted entry to the covered patio. The enlarged opening makes it easier to move between the two spaces and allows the outdoor area to feel like a natural extension of the home. Careful structural work and detailed finishing around the new frame helped the installation sit cleanly within the existing building.

Seamless Alfresco Addition

Covered Balcony Extension
This project involved extending an existing upper-level balcony to create a larger and more practical outdoor living area, along with the construction of a new roof over the deck. The extension was carefully integrated with the existing two-storey brick home, including detailed finishing around the existing doors, windows and building edges. The expanded deck gave the homeowners considerably more usable space, while the lightweight roof design allowed natural light to continue reaching the balcony and the rooms along the rear of the home.
